Sean McManus has led the sports division of CBS since 1996, first under the title of president, then under the title of chairman (since 2011).He was also the president of the news division from 2005 until 2011 (the only other person to simultaneously lead the sports and news division at a major broadcast network was Roone Arledge in the 1970s and 1980s).In 1998, he was credited for helping CBS regain broadcast rights to professional football games officiated by the National Football League (the NFL) that year after having lost such rights to FOX in 1993.Sean is the son of legendary sportscaster Jim McKay, whose original surname is McManus.He graduated with honor from Duke University in 1977, majoring in history and English.He began his career in 1977 at ABC Sports as a production assistant and associate producer and has had successful stops at Trans World International and NBC Sports.
