In the mid 1960s, suburban New York teenager Ron Kovic enlists in the Marines, fulfilling what he sees as his patriotic duty. Coming from the Vietnam war, paralyzed Ron becomes an anti-war and pro-human rights political activist after feeling betrayed by the country he fought for.
