The dog flu virus has spread in Japan and despite the insistence of a scientist named Professor Watanabe that he is about to find a cure, the mayor has decided to ban all dogs to the island, including Atari's dog. Six months later, Atari is stealing a plane and flying to the island in the hope of finding the dog 'Spot'.

Isle of Dogs is in need of a stronger storyteller. And, yes, there are times when the cleverness starts to feel smug. I would have liked Isle of Dogs more if there had been less of it.
