The story takes place on a film set in the Desert War in North Africa. Douglas is the leader of a band of mercenaries whose mission is to defeat an enemy fuel reserve. He gets problem with two man when their opinions are different to fulfill the plan.

A fine, memorable performance by Nigel Davenport, as a man who's as calculating as he is black-hearted. He works for the Brits, but one senses that if the Germans offered him more money, switching sides would pose no dilemma.
