When Rachel Morgan arrived at the ruins of Hamburg in the winter, things seemed to be going badly. Rachel went to the city to be reunited with her husband Lewis, the British colonel in charge of rebuilding the devastated city. Maybe things were not so good for Rachel as she discovers that Lewis made an unexpected decision. Rachel may share the big house with her former owners, a German widower and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, there will be more enmity, sadness and tragedy.
