American Princess is one of those television series that is everything you hadn't expected going into it: fun, smart, and gives its characters depth that lifts it towards being one of the most memorable comedies to come along this year.

The gross-out comedy is a particularly poor brand fit for Lifetime - whose recent stabs at savvy, urbane satirical dramas, "Unreal" and "You," both made more sense on their air and felt, from the beginning, far more fully formed.
