SCHEDULE
The fifth season begins strongly through Demelza, who is rearranging her affairs in Cornwall. Now, it seems that Demelza will face an unusually unusual disappointment, especially as she is dealing with a new rival named Tess. Meanwhile, George is struggling to re-engage with a different life after Elizabeth's death, and it is Carrie's responsibility to restore the prestige of the family empire again.

Costume drama at its most spangled and superficial, Poldark is bursting at the seams with simplistic fashion statements.July 22, 2019
The Poldarks have grown so middle-aged that I predict later in the series Ross will surprise Demelza [Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson] with tickets for a two-week Mediterranean cruise.July 22, 2019
Rars, the landscape of mind is just as important as the landscape of action, if not more so, and I hope and pray the rest of this series recognises that. But welcome back anyhow. Yes indeed.July 16, 2019
The plot goes its own way, and it's perfectJuly 16, 2019
The hubble, bubble, toil and trouble is coming along nicely.July 15, 2019
We will see its like again, but clap it in anyway.July 16, 2019
The story gallops along like Seamus the horse on a Cornish clifftop. It's all faintly ridiculous, but I couldn't imagine it any other way.July 17, 2019
[T]he death of Elizabeth leaves a hole in the plot where the thwarted lust used to go, which is a worry, because nobody wants to hear more about the travails of Poldark's tin mine during a fancy-dress recession.July 16, 2019
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable start to what's almost certain to be an emotionally draining but hugely entertaining final run.July 16, 2019
A toast then, to the new century. What do it hold for us? Just seven remaining Sunday nights of Cornish joy. Relish them.
