Meta, knowing, and interested in what fame, or post-fame, looks like at middle age. But it's also the same in that it's soapy and silly and you can't stop watching it even though your brain keeps firing neurons screaming that you should know better.

Nostalgia is a dangerous drug, I don't know if I loved the first two episodes because they were good and subversive or if I just like seeing this group of people back together again. I'm down for this strange ride.

Dare I say BH90210 is wonderful and weird. Just as the original 90210 broke the mold and set the foundation for all teen dramas to follow, this six-episode series breaks the mold on reboots and may very well inform all that follow.

The frenetic plot feels like a feint, one that's trying to distract everyone who is participating and watching from the series' true subject: the unstoppable forward momentum of time.

The BH90210 cast will never get past the show that first made them famous. But as these actors/characters face the shadow-filled years of middle-age alongside the co-stars they grew up with, maybe that's not such a bad thing.

"BH90210" unintentionally makes the case why there must never be a "Friends" reboot or reunion show. Ever.

I don't want to say that BH90210 should have been better. More likely, it should have been awful. But it could have been smarter and sharper. Much smarter and sharper.
