"Lego Masters" proves itself to be a truly imaginative reality show that both upholds and busts reality competition archetypes and expectations.

Perhaps my overall disappointment stems from this pilot stiffness, but the more likely culprit is the standard brashness of American reality television, which is less cinema vérité and more wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am.

Lego Masters is a more conventional competition show than Making It or The Great British Baking Show, but is still having a hell of a lot more fun than most conventional cable talent competitions.
