Perception overstuffs its early episodes with far too many overwrought plot points.

McCormack is terrific in Perception, which pushes him far beyond his sitcom to play a character who is not entirely likable...His show, on the other hand, isn't so terrific.

Perception lacks the wit, sidebar repartee or enigmatic withholding that makes shows like Monk, The Mentalist or Castle pleasant, if undemanding, viewing.

Eric McCormack is likable again in TNT's Perception, and that may be more half the battle for this new mystery series.
