It is a deep look at a range of investigations into the dramatic and criminal events in Boston. Investigator Gene Rizzoli and medical examiners Maura Elise are investigating the murders in Boston. Both of them seem to be very difficult because they relate to very large and mysterious murders. Investigator Jane may be a tough and tough girl and Marrow has a character that sometimes reflects a frozen look, but they meet to solve the most complex issues in the state without fear or retreat.

"R&I" isn't any fluffy, girl power, shoot 'em up, but a gritty and occasionally gruesome drama that delves into the unpleasant side of humanity while keeping suspense and surprises alive.

The crime-driven material is familiar and, because of the book condensing, hurried and mystery-free, while at least in the early going, attempts at levity aren't working at all.

You cannot even call Rizzoli & Isles run of the mill, it being that mills usually run more smoothly.

Rizzoli & Isles is kind of a mess of a show. There are interesting elements around the edges, but the writing is just dire.

It's a compelling enough tale, with Harmon projecting just the right amount of fear and defiance and Isles a complementary mixture of comfort and good sense.

Rizzoli & Isles features a good dose of humor and a lean style of storytelling that's reflected in the fairly small core group with which we will apparently be working.
