The folks in Studio 8H were there to see a concert first and a sketch comedy show second. Now, such a warning wasn't truly necessary, as plenty in-house laughed at the mostly solid material in this week's installment.

Though tonight's sketches don't reveal some new facet of Emma Stone that's never been seen before, and her newest characters aren't remarkable, she holds it down throughout.
April 15, 2019
Thanks to her natural comic timing, Stone continued her streak as a strong host. But the real stars of the episode were BTS.
April 15, 2019
Stone had a solid night...but BTS clearly had a better one.
April 15, 2019
As we approach the end of Saturday Night Live's 44th season, they're pulling out the big guns with host Emma Stone and musical guest BTS, but some sketches hit more like a BB gun taking strange potshots.
April 15, 2019
Good for SNL for using something, anything, to open the show besides the horror show in the White House, and for the best use of a celebrity since McCarthy.
April 15, 2019
On an evening that overall felt more miss than hit, the Oscar winner's total committment was a welcome presence.
April 16, 2019
Stone was excellent throughout, and even managed to elevate some of the weaker skits...but I was ultimately expecting better material for her return.
May 07, 2019
One thing is abundantly clear after this week; we can't wait to see Emma Stone join the five-timers club.
April 15, 2019
I feel bad, because Emma is great, but this was a dismal SNL. These [BTS] kids, however, have moves.
April 15, 2019
Emma Stone, on the other hand, rocks the episode, to the point that she has an entire sketch...she carries pretty much on her own...and it doesn't feel off or like she needs to be rescued.
April 15, 2019
[Stone] pops, has the chops, and, frankly, is stellar at bulling her way through some so-so material and emerging unscathed.
