Season 4 opens with Belle back from her trip, moving into a new townhouse, and entertaining a young barrister with a 'downstairs' problem. She learns that Stephanie is remanded in custody for money laundering. Whilst reluctant to take over the business she agrees to host Stephanie's daughter Poppy.

It wasn't clear why Showtime made such quick work of Billie Piper's possible last season as London Call Girl 'Belle Du Jour,' but it is likely that this moderately well-received British import has hit its stride with American audiences.

Piper seems to think that Secret Diary of a Call Girl is harmless. But it actually manages to be both trite, inane fluff and seriously pernicious, sending what is a depressing message to young girls who see Billie Piper as a role model.
