The spread of a deadly virus in the Scandinavian countries by rain, the virus almost eliminated most of humanity. People hide in underground shelters. The brothers Simon and Rasmus are leaving with their mother to the cellar, Simon must protect Rasmus, because it is the key to repairing the virus.

The Rain tries hard and you can sense that there's so much potential there but it feels a bit of a misfire unfortunately for what could be a really compelling watch.

The Rain is, yes, another post-apocalyptic thing, it's different enough to entice even a jaded genre viewer into yet another grim dystopia.

The Rain never gets to the point where you're pulling for the water droplets, but this is one barren wasteland that makes it difficult to care about anything other than surviving it.

From what we've seen so far, The Rain is so much more than 'The Walking Dead with teens' - it's a satisfyingly full-blooded and handsomely filmic series that justifies the hype.

The overall story, which sometimes feels like a cross between Contagion and The Walking Dead, isn't particularly original... But this doesn't stop The Rain from being entertaining.
