Tea Leoni is terrific and it's great to see her back on TV, but even she can't make some of the clunkier stuff work.September 18, 2014
Madam Secretary starts off solidly, with an engaging performance by Téa Leoni. What may draw much of the attention with Sunday's premiere, though, is a jarring intersection between the show's plot and recent real-life events in the Mideast.August 15, 2014
Its three main ingredients are uninteresting separately and add up to less than the sum of their parts.September 19, 2014
It's often good at the seemingly little touches, like the patter of sharp dialogue that fills in character, motivation and personality.September 19, 2014
The problem is that Madam Secretary, at least through its first three episodes, is a pretty clunky enterprise.September 18, 2014
Instead of feeling pleasantly optimistic, Madam Secretary is just really, really dull, as if someone tried to make a counterweight to Scandal with only the boring parts-plus one shamelessly ripped-off conspiracy theory.September 19, 2014
I've seen The West Wing, was a big fan of The West Wing and this is no West Wing. If anything, it is the anti-West Wing or West Wing without the charm.
